When I am able to remain calm and let my reasonableness be known to my children, I communicate the peace of God in Christ.
If parents understand our own heart’s bent, we should be able to enter in alongside our teenagers with compassion rather than condemnation.
Jesus will be my child’s best camp friend and cabinmate, the Holy Spirit his best counselor, and the Father always by his side.
The freedom we expect to find in summertime can feel like hunting fireflies; yet sometimes peace lands on our outstretched palms with a tickle and a glow.

God chose you to parent your child, not because he thought you could do it without mistakes, but because God knows exactly what your child needs.
Look and see, oh Lord, what has happened to your children – those who were slain in a place that should be safe.
We pray that the hope of the gospel brings comfort and peace even as we are confronted with the horror of more children and teachers lost in the places where they should be safest.
