In case you missed it, we wanted to share a replay of our recent webinar on Teaching Tricky Books of the Old Testament.
Panelists Kendal Conner, Mac Harris, and Rebecca Lankford discuss the Old Testament books of Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, and Zechariah. These books from Israel’s restoration period contain a treasure trove of insight as we help our teenagers to understand the Bible’s grand narrative—but can be intimidating to teach. This webinar is intended to help youth minsters grow in confidence as they approach the Old Testament with teenagers. Listen in as the panelists discuss some of the tricker parts of these books, helpful teaching resources, important themes, and most especially, the most exciting gospel connections that point us forward to Jesus.
Our panelists and host mentioned several resources to help as you teach teenagers the whole counsel of God’s Word:
Christ-Centered Exposition Series
Discovering the Gospel in Every Book of the Bible (Tim Keller, Gospel in Life)
Help Me Teach the Bible (Nancy Guthrie, The Gospel Coaltion)
Casket Empty Study Guides and Timelines (Dr. Carol Kaminski and Dr. David Palmer)
Below, we highlight some additional resources from the Rooted blog on teaching this period of biblical history. If you’re looking for a brief series to teach in the weeks before or after Christmas, consider any of these prophets (or a selection) as fantastic candidates.
You can find Rooted’s restoration curriculum package on Rooted Reservoir, and these post-exilic prophets are also featured in Rooted’s Advent devotional for teenagers.
