SOLA Network and Rooted present:
Asian American Youth Workers Training Day
The Heart, Hands, and Head
March 15, 2025 | 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Living Hope Community Church | Brea, CAThe Heart, Hands, and Head
Join us for our first-ever Asian American Youth Workers Training Day, where we will explore topics that bridge the gap between the heart, hands, and head of the Asian American Youth Ministry. Our hope is to encourage, empower, and equip youth workers in the distinct and unique trenches of Asian American Youth Ministry: Culture, Language, Multiple Congregations, etc. What will set this training day apart from any other youth ministry training conference is having content and teaching set within the context of Asian American youth ministry. No more wondering “how” we’ll implement the practices and strategies we learn or getting discouraged that we “can’t” do things the way we’re told we ought to.
Heart: Be encouraged by our plenary speakers, who together have 50+ years of ministry experience and workshops that offer training and insights into the heart issues for youth ministry to teenagers.
Hands: Attend workshops that offer practical training and equip you with skills that are essential for youth ministry.
Head: Be part of a larger discussion on the direction Asian American Youth Ministry is heading.
We believe that Jesus loves and has gifted Asian American youth workers in the churches we’re in to reach the students we’re called to. We want to help come alongside you and we hope you’ll meet new youth ministry friends through this day together.
Register now. This conference is for all youth workers: Pastors, Volunteers, Teachers, etc.

Workshops:
-
Mental Health and Teenagers: Serving Teenagers in Need | Monica Kim
The gospel, of course, is the great hope for teenagers struggling with a wide array of mental health challenges. Yet, while the powerful hope of the gospel is an important truth and foundational hope for anyone struggling with mental health, the nuances and application of the gospel are not always black and white, nor does it provide simple solutions. This workshop will begin to consider ways to care for teenagers with mental health struggles.
-
Playing the Long-Game of Ministry to Teenagers of a Post-Christian Generation | Clark Fobes
Teenagers today are religiously and socially living in a unique context. This workshop will pose the question of how we can hope and do ministry to youth in the present and future, and will give encouragements as to why playing the long-game is our best hope and strategy for those loving and serving teenagers.
-
Partnering with Parents: Working Collaboratively With Parents (Including Across Cultural and Language Barriers) | James Han
The Apple Doesn’t Fall far from the tree. And we know parents can be either a positive and sometimes even negative factor in the spiritual formation of their teenagers. This workshop will focus on partnering with parents to help raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (and will include discussions about working across cultural and language barriers in partnering with parents).
-
Pastoring Students from a Biblical View of Gender & Sexuality | Chris Li
