Teaching Tricky Books from the Old Testament

As youth ministers, we want to expose teenagers to the whole counsel of Scripture and to point them to Jesus from every book of the Bible. But if we’re honest, we feel intimidated by certain books, especially some from the Old Testament. Not only that, but teenagers ask the hard questions we might not always know how to answer.

Please join us for a webinar on Thursday, August 15 at 1:00 p.m. CST, in which we’ll share teaching tools for some post-exilic books of the Bible: Nehemiah, Ezra, Zechariah, and Esther. These books from Israel’s restoration period contain a treasure trove of insight for our teenagers as we help them to understand the Bible’s grand narrative. Panelists Kendal ConnerMac Harris, and Rebecca Lankford have recently written curriculum for Rooted Reservoir on this collection of books. Each will offer help for youth minsters in regard to interpretive challenges and gospel application. We hope you’ll walk away from our brief call together feeling better equipped to teach your students from some of these books in the coming school year. We’ll reserve time at the end for Q&A. Register here!

If you are unable to join us for the webinar, or simply want some more resources on teaching the Old Testament, we hope you’ll enjoy some of these podcasts and articles below. Our hope is that as you teach the Old Testament, both you and your students will grow to better know and love Jesus, to whom all of Scripture points.
