In the spirit of early Christmas shopping that seems to sweeping our nation, we thought we’d help parents get an early start with their gift-giving in 2021. Here at Rooted we are all about getting good books in the hands of teenagers. The Bible is our foundation, but reading across a wide variety of genres can be crucial to helping kids develop imagination, empathy, and critical thinking skills. Below you’ll find links to past Christmas posts; the beauty of good books is that they are evergreen, so our book posts are too! You’ll find fiction and history, theology and devotionals, science and sociology, biographies and memoirs. These lists are by no means exhaustive, but you’ll find something for most every kid here.
And, if we may, here at Rooted we have a new favorite book for teenagers: The Jesus I Wish I Knew In High School! We published our first book for teens this past fall, and we couldn’t be happier with what we are hearing back from teenagers, parents, grandparents, teachers, and youth ministers (more to come on that after Thanksgiving). A collection of thirty essays by Rooted writers and friends of Rooted of different ages from different backgrounds, this book helps teenagers see how Jesus is friend, brother, and Savior, even through the highs and lows of adolescence.
Happy shopping!
