Our pastor is leading us through the Gospel of Matthew to start 2021, and today he shared a resource with our congregation: Lectio 365 is a daily devotional app (available here or in the Apple app store) designed to help users pray through Scripture each day.
Inspired by the practice of lectio divina, a form of meditating on the Word, this app features a daily guide for reading and praying. Each day, users will be guided to P.R.A.Y: Pause, Rejoice and Reflect, Ask for God’s help for others and ourselves, and Yield to his will. Scripture reading is paired with guided prayer, which is available both as text and audio.
Sample prayers: Today I rest in the blessing of poverty of spirit. God, I am small and you are great. I am weak and you are strong. I have everything I need in you. I rest knowing it is your good pleasure to give me the kingdom.
Today I rest in the blessing of your mercy. ‘Because of your great love for me, You, who are rich in mercy, made me alive with Christ even when I was dead in transgressions- it is by grace I have been saved’ (Ephesians 2:4-5).
Today I rest in the blessing of peacemaking. Good, good Father, You are gathering us, Your children together. Prince of Peace, by Your Spirit You are expanding Your rule and reign in and through me.
