The Flip-Side of the Statistic: Teenagers Who Didn’t Leave the Church after Graduation

Statistics related to the high percentage of teenagers who walk away from the Church shortly after graduating from high school are legion. And yet in the mercy of God, there are many teenagers whose faith took long-term root during the years of middle school and high school. Two such students – Kevin Carlock (recent graduate of Davidson College) and Will Leitner (senior, Auburn University) – share their stories on this episode of the Rooted Youth Ministry Podcast. Current youth ministers and parents will find much encouragement as they hear the “little things” that made a big difference in the faith development of Kevin and Will. And, the insights these young men share will also be helpful for those who are designing (or re-designing) strategies to help teenagers persevere in the faith upon graduating from high school.
