Rooted 2016: James Sutton on Racial Reconciliation

At our 2016 conference in San Diego, James Sutton delved into the extremely challenging and critical issue of racial division in America. He noted that there is “reasonable alarm that we are not a post-racism society.” We can’t move past anything until we deal with our past. He says that the two questions we need to ask ourselves, in order to get to the beauty and hope of racial reconciliation are these:

How did we get here?
Where do we go from here?

Ephesians 2:14-16 says, “For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one, and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.”
