Position Requirements
- Be a committed follower of Jesus Christ
- Senses a desire to serve among students and families
- Has completed at least second year of college
- Is able to work with a team
- Is teachable and able to accept feedback from teammates and superiors
- Is committed to modeling weekly worship on Sundays and also the regular rhythms of the ministry
- Is willing to submit to the the leadership of the NextGen ministry and the church elders during their time at Atonement
- Is agreeable to the mission of Church of the Atonement and the NextGen ministry
- Must agree to a background check and to go through Ministry Safe training
- Must have their own car, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record
Duties and Expectations
- Be a Christ-like model for the youth
- Participate in Connect on Sunday nights, Sunday School, and summer activities such as the middle and high school summer trips
- Assist in the teaching of Sunday School (specific placement and role will be discussed more specifically when the intern is on site)
- Meet with many students broadly and a few students specifically over the course of the summer
- Plan informal meetups with students
- Communicate regularly with parents and students via the weekly newsletter, text, personal visits, and phone calls.
Accountability
- Meet weekly with the Associate Pastor of NextGen Ministry to discuss ministry, scheduling, the reading commitment, and to have a time of prayer.
Time Commitment and Pay
- The intern will begin on [June 2, 2025] and end on [August 11, 2025], a period of [10 weeks].
- Interns will have [two] days off per week and can work with the Associate Pastor of NextGen Ministry to determine these
- Interns will be paid bi-weekly along with other church staff members
- Interns will work 30 hours per week
Expenses
- Interns will be given a ministry expense budget to cover their contact expenses (time with students, meals with students, etc.) and reimbursement for gas. The intern is expected to be a good steward of this budget and be careful not to overspend.
- Summer interns will be provided housing with a family in the church for the ten weeks of their service.
