About Us

Our Focus: Advancing Gospel-Centered Youth Ministry

Our mission is to equip and empower churches and parents to faithfully disciple students toward life-long faith in Jesus Christ.

Our vision is to transform youth ministry so that every student receives grace-filled, gospel-centered and Bible-saturated discipleship in the church and at home.

The number of young people disaffiliating with Christianity each year is staggering— nearly 70% of teenagers who grow up in the church do not return after high-school.

At Rooted, we have a heart for every child to develop faith in Jesus Christ that lasts. The most influential factor in determining whether a child will attend church as an adult is an accurate understanding of the Gospel— God’s unconditional love for sinners through Christ. Therefore, we are equipping leaders and parents throughout the country to practice gospel-centered youth ministry. We long for every child to hear the gospel of grace, be taught the word of God, be mentored and discipled, and be prayed over and for— through their church and at home each week.

Our prayer is that God would use Rooted to transform the next generation. Rooted is aiming to flip the statistic, so that 70% of teenagers stick with their faith!

Our Story

Rooted was born more than a decade ago in response to the crisis in the spiritual lives of young people. What started with a small conference has grown into a movement to see gospel-centered youth ministry become the normal experience of teenagers throughout the church. Rooted developed the framework below to promote gospel-centered youth ministry, which we do today through conferences, regional groups, Rooted Reservoir (our video training and curriculum), blog, and podcast channels. The Rooted community is full of youth pastors, volunteers, and parents working and praying to see teenagers liberated by and enamored with Jesus and His Gospel. We are so grateful for how God is using Rooted in the lives of students all over the world!

Our Approach

Rooted embraces a simple approach to youth ministry based on our understanding of scripture and validated by research on effective models for cultivating sustainable faith in young people. We emphasize the following five pillars for youth ministry:

  1. Gospel Centrality— faithfully proclaiming the good news of God’s unconditional love for sinners through Christ
  2. Theological Depth— through expository, biblical teaching – equipping students with a biblical worldview
  3. Relational Discipleship pursuing all facets of ministry in the context of caring relationships with students
  4. Partnerships with Parents— educating, equipping, and collaborating with parents in the discipleship of their kids
  5. Intergenerational Integration— not segregating students from the church body but including them among all of the generations of the church

Using this foundational framework, Rooted is promoting faithful discipleship of young people through the adults that love them. Imagine the impact on a child’s life if each week they are taught the word of God, prayed for, and mentored to understand God’s grace for them through Christ. Rooted is reaching thousands of students by equipping their leaders for this type of meaningful ministry.

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” – Colossians 2:6-7
